Vol. 100 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper, Nos. 3, 5 and 6. If No. 5 is not finished by 6 o'clock, No. 6 will be taken at 6 o'clock.

Before going on with the business, there is a matter of rather grave national importance at the moment and I and members of my Party here have had communications from all over the country regarding it. Before the Taoiseach leaves the House, I would like to put it to him, through you, that, in view of the fact that, on Monday next, the 25th March, the centenary celebrations of one great Irishman, Michael Davitt, will take place——

The Deputy cannot——

Allow me a second. We should try to celebrate that commemoration.

The Deputy must realise——

We should try——

You are not in the Chair.

The Ceann Comhairle is speaking.

The Deputy must realise that matters cannot be raised in that slipshod fashion. Some notice must be given to the Chair. No notice was given.

Will you take notice now?

No, not in that fashion. Written notice must be given.

We have had communications from all over the country and we are having a High Mass offered. There should be one in every Catholic church in the country. We would not be here if it were not for Michael Davitt.
