Vol. 100 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal for Brick-Making.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the urgent need for bricks for house-building, and of the provision of as much employment as possible, he is prepared to make an allocation of coal to the Dublin Brick Company, Limited, Crumlin Road, to enable the company to resume brick-making operations and to provide employment for 100 men.

Coal for brick manufacture is at present being allowed to three firms. No recent application for a permit has, however, been received from the Dublin Brick Company.

And if an application is made, will he consider it in the light of the unemployment in the brick-making industry?

I have no application from the company for a coal permit.

If an application is made, will he consider it——

It will be considered.

——in the light of the number of men in the brick-making industry who are unemployed?

It will be considered.
