asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will be prepared to introduce legislation so as to consolidate the Workmen's Compensation Acts; and thereby make the position clearer and more secure for employers and employees.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consolidating Workmen's Compensation Acts.
The permanent legislation dealing with workmen's compensation is contained entirely in the Workmen's Compensation Act, 1934. The only amendments are those providing for temporary increases in the maximum weekly compensation under Emergency Powers (No. 274) Order, 1943, and Emergency Powers (No. 274) Order, 1943 (Amendment) Order, 1944.
Does the Minister consider the present position regarding workmen's compensation satisfactory in view of existing circumstances?
That is a separate question.
