Vol. 102 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Docks Dispute.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what steps, if any, he has taken to bring to an end the dispute at the Dublin docks arising out of the demand by the dockers for a fortnight's holidays with pay; and if he will state the results of his efforts to find a satisfactory agreement in the matter.

As the Deputy is probably well aware, a conference between all the parties concerned in the dispute took place on Friday, 28th June, 1946, but proved unsuccessful. A further conference under the auspices of my Department will be arranged at any time that the parties consider that it may be of value in facilitating negotiations between them.

Has the Department been approached by the Harbour Board of Dublin to take action with the view of preventing the dispute at the North Wall from spreading?

I am not aware that the Harbour Board is a party to this dispute.
