Vol. 102 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Bus Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there is a general demand from the people of Ballyhooly and Castletownroche for a bus service to connect these districts with Cork City; and if he will direct Córas Iompair Éireann to take steps to provide a suitable bus service for those populous districts.

I am informed that Córas Iompair Éireann have received requests for a bus service to connect Ballyhooly and Castletownroche with Cork City. These places are already served by train. Prior to the emergency there was a bus service between Castletownroche and Cork which the company hope to restore as soon as the vehicle position permits. They never operated a bus service to Ballyhooly. The question of introducing new services will be considered when normal time-tables have been restored.
