Vol. 103 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Maize and Oats.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give any information he has, including information re prices, regarding future imports of maize and Canadian oats.

I am unable, at the moment, to indicate the quantity, or the approximate landed cost, of oats or maize which it may be found possible to import during the current season.

Has the Minister had regard to the desirability of investigating a possible source of supply of seed oats in Canada in the coming year, owing to the damp condition of the oats now and the danger of germination being virtually destroyed in storing?

I do not know if it is possible to get suitable seed oats from any source other than the home crop and I do not anticipate that there will be a shortage of seed oats.

Are there any orders placed at present?

For feeding oats? We have been trying to get some of it.
