Vol. 103 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Facilities at Horseleap.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received representations from Horseleap Improvements Committee, Offaly, to have a telephone installed in Horseleap Post Office at an early date; and if he will give this request special and immediate consideration in view of the demand of the general public for this service, as the nearest telephone is at Kilbeggan, four miles away.

Application has been received from the Horseleap Improvements Committee for the installation of a public telephone in the local post office. It is intended to provide this facility at Horseleap as part of the general scheme for the provision of public telephones at all post offices but it is not possible to say at this stage when Horseleap can be reached.

Would it not be possible, in view of the special circumstances in this case, to provide a telephone for Horseleap Post Office in view of the fact that Kilbeggan is the nearest public telephone? I think there is an outstanding case for it and I hope that the Minister will see that it is sympathetically considered.

It will be considered in its turn.
