Vol. 103 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Fuel Supplies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of complaints of a fuel shortage in the towns of Clonakilty, Bantry and Macroom, County Cork, and of special difficulties for poor families, able to purchase only small quantities of fuel at a time, in obtaining supplies; and whether he will indicate what steps will be taken to assure an adequate supply in such towns during the coming months.

I am aware of the difficult position in regard to turf supplies in Clonakilty, Bantry and Macroom. Steps have been taken to make available to merchants in those towns turf stocks which had been created for other purposes and the position is being kept under constant review.
