asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on the intention of the Government to retire a number of Army officers and other members of the Defence Forces; if he is aware of the many protests against this action; and if he will state (i) the reasons for such retirements; (ii) the names of officers concerned, their salary and the length of their service in the Defence Forces, and (iii) whether any of the parties concerned have had service with the Old I.R.A.
