Vol. 104 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clondalkin (County Dublin) Flooding.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that considerable flooding occurs at Nangor Road, Clondalkin, arising from the fact that a certain landowner has refused to clean the ditches on his land; that the houses in the vicinity are continually flooded as a result; and if he will take such steps as may be open to him to compel this landowner to clean the ditches to obviate flooding.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that flooding occurs at Nangor Road, Clondalkin, due to ditches close to the road not being cleaned; and if he will take steps to remedy the situation.

With your permission, a Chinn Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions 14 and 15 together.

The matter is one primarily for the county council but I am informed by the commissioner that steps will be taken to require the landowner to clear the drains referred to as soon as weather conditions permit. The commissioner also informed me that notices under the Summary Jurisdiction Act, 1851, were served on the landowner some weeks ago and compliance will be insisted on as soon as weather conditions permit.
