There is a great variety of services provided by the State and local authorities towards ensuring the maintenance of a minimum standard of living for the individual citizen. It has recently been announced that these services are to be further enlarged and extended, at an additional cost to the Exchequer of over £2,000,000. As regards the Deputy's reference to the Budget, I may say that it is not customary to indicate in advance what may or may not be included in that statement.
