Vol. 105 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers - Briefing of State Counsel.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the present practice regarding the briefing of State Counsel to appear in two or more cases which are being tried concurrently in different courts; whether it has been intimated to counsel and to the Attorney-General that this practice is objectionable; whether steps will be taken to ensure that, where counsel holds two or more briefs, in respect of State cases which are being tried concurrently, all save one must be surrendered; and whether he will decline to pay fees in respect of more cases than one which are heard in such circumstances.

I would refer the Deputy to the very complete answer which I gave to a similar question which he addressed to me on the 21st May, 1946. There has been no change of practice in the matter since that date.
