Written Answers. - Butter Statistics.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state, in respect of each of the years 1944, 1945 and 1946, the total quantity of butter produced by creameries; the estimated total quantity produced elsewhere; the quantity of (a) creamery, and (b) noncreamery butter placed in cold storage; and further, the total quantity of butter in cold storage at 31st March, in each of the years 1940 to 1947, inclusive.

The quantities of creamery butter produced during each of the calendar years 1944, 1945 and 1946 were 579,534 cwt., 606,219 cwt., and 551,601 cwt., respectively. The quantities of non-creamery butter produced during each of the years ended 31st May, 1944, and 1945 were 464,000 cwt., and 484,000 cwt., respectively. The corresponding figure for 1946 is not yet available. The quantities of creamery butter in cold storage including cold stores at creameries at 31st October in each of the years 1944, 1945 and 1946 were 220,770 cwt., 203,102 cwt., and 170,578 cwt., respectively, and the quantities of non-creamery butter in public cold store on the above-mentioned dates were 11,493 cwt., 16,663 cwt., and 11,253 cwt., respectively. In each of the years 1940 to 1947 inclusive the total quantity of butter in cold storage on the 31st March was as set out in the following table
