Vol. 105 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy Military Service Pensions.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state, in respect of members of the I.R.A. in County Wexford entitled to pensions, under the Military Service Pensions Acts, the appropriate pensionable service awarded to members of the I.R.A. in Enniscorthy, in respect of service during the week commencing 23rd April, 1916; further, if, in individual cases, there was a departure from the general rules; and if so, the grounds for such departure, the number of men affected, and the extent to which, in each case, such men were affected.

Particulars of the appropriate pensionable service awarded under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, to members of the I.R.A. in Enniscorthy in respect of service during the week commencing 23rd April, 1916, are as follows: 4/7 year pensionable service awarded to 1 applicant; 1- 5/7 years' pensionable service awarded to 103 applicants; 2- 2/7 years' pensionable service awarded to 13 applicants; total, 117 applicants; which does not include 26 members of Cumann na mBan.

In making these awards there was no departure in individual cases from the general rules and the final portion of the Deputy's question does not, therefore, arise.
