Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Felling of Trees (Kildare).

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if the Forestry Division of his Department have had any dealings with the representatives of Weldon estate at Kilmaroney, Athy, in connection with the sale of firewood, or the purchase of timber or land for planting; if his Department is in communication with Mr. Owens, owner of part of the Kilmaroney lands, on any subject concerning this estate, and if so, in what circumstances; if his Department is in touch with any professional or legal representatives of this estate; and if he will give details of such dealings so far as his Department is aware.

The Forestry Division was in correspondence last year with Mr. Owens and his solicitors regarding the proposed felling of trees on the KIlmaroney estate. Two licences were granted covering the felling of a total of 916 trees subject to a replanting condition.
