Vol. 108 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flax Water Offences.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the great importance of the flax crop, prosecutions by fisheries boards for flax water offences will be discontinued.

Pollution by flax water constitutes a grave danger to fisheries and a legal obligation rests on flax growers to take measures to avoid such pollution. Where growers wilfully fail to take the required precautions, boards of conservators have no option but to institute legal proceedings.
