Vol. 110 No. 2

Supplementary Estimates. - Vote 75—Repayments to Contingency Fund.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £889 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 1948, for the repayment to the Contingency Fund of certain Miscellaneous Advances.

This is a Vote which is always taken at the end of the financial year. Deputies will understand that the Contingency Fund is kept at a figure of £20,000 and that drawings are made on it as and when urgent situations arise — certain situations calling for expenditure which could not be foreseen. Advances are made from the Contingency Fund in respect of these payments and repayments are made out of this Vote to the Contingency Fund. The advances made to date cover such matters as stamp duty remitted on deeds and other instruments for public departments, refund of stamp duties paid by representatives of foreign legations in Dublin, and expenditure in regard to triplets bounty.

Vote put and agreed to.
