Vol. 110 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decline in Homespun Industry.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that there has recently been a decline in the purchase of homespun in the Donegal Gaeltacht and, as the Government has undertaken to purchase and market homespun, will the Minister consider the matter so that this industry will not be allowed to lapse.

Everything possible is being done to find markets for homespun, both at home and abroad, but trade has been difficult for some time. It is chiefly on the foreign market that this industry depends as in normal times only a very limited market exists in this country. The purchase of homespun will be continued according as markets can be found.
