Vol. 110 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing Regulations.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Dublin Corporation has received a considerable number of applications from newly-married couples, and also many thousands of applications from citizens with families desiring housing accommodation, and if he will state what Government regulations, if any, have been made for the guidance of the housing allocation department of the corporation in the matter.

I am aware that the Dublin Corporation has received a considerable number of applications from newly-married persons, and others, for housing accommodation. The regulations for the guidance of housing authorities in the making of lettings are the Housing (Loan Charges Contributions) Regulations, 1932 and 1938; but the preparation of new regulations is in progress.

Mr. Byrne

On a point of order, may I draw attention to the fact that not one member stood up to ask his question? There is a rule that members should stand up when asking questions and we would like to see the questioners.

The Deputy is not asking a question now.
