Vol. 111 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Transmission Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether he will investigate the possibility of establishing a radio-telegraph and radio-telephone service in connection with the shortwave station at Moydrum as a dollar earning potential.

The existing equipment at Moydrum is not suitable for use as a radio telegraph or radio telephone station. Its conversion for either purpose would involve very heavy additional capital expenditure as well as substantial operating charges out of all proportion to the revenue likely to be earned.

I did not suggest in my question that the present equipment should be converted, but that they should establish another equipment in connection with the station.
