asked the Minister for Finance if he will give particulars as to what sums of money, if any, payable under the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1947, have been returned to the National Exchequer since February last.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oireachtas Members' Allowances.
No sums of money payable under the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act, 1947, have been returned to the Exchequer since February last.
Will the Minister say if the cheques paid have in fact been accepted by the Deputies?
That is another question.
As far as I am concerned, they have not.
My reply is concerned only with the question of the return to the Exchequer.
Mr. Boland
They accepted the money.
We must remember that there was an attempt at this before, but it only lasted to the extent of £100 and then it collapsed.
