Vol. 112 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soap Supplies.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the failure on the part of wholesalers to supply to retailers quotas of soap sufficient to meet their customers' coupon demands; and, if so, whether he will have this matter investigated.

I have received no complaints of the nature referred to. If the Deputy will let me have particulars of any such complaints I will have them investigated.

Mr. Byrne

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that Messrs. Lever Brothers are not supplying their customers with their ordinary share of soap due to a dispute at North Wall, which might easily be settled, and will he make inquiries as to why Lever Brothers are unable to give full supplies to retailers in view of the fact that the dispute can be settled by a mere telephone message to bring the parties together?
