asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the make and horse power of each type of the various motor cars assembled in this country; the price at which such type is sold to the public and for each such type the price at which it would be available in Great Britain (a) with purchase tax; (b) without purchase tax; and the cost of each such type landed at an Irish port to the importer who assembles the car here.

The information at my disposal is not sufficient to enable me to reply in full to the Deputy's question, but I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement setting out the particulars requested in so far as they are available to me. I am not in a position to give the landed cost of motor vehicle parts which are imported for assembly in this country.
