Vol. 112 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Allowance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of his reply to a question on the 10th March, 1948, he will state the reasons why Mr. Michael Condon, Gormanstown, Ardfeenan, was refused a supplementary petrol allowance for the haulage of turf.

Michael Condon was in receipt of supplementary allowances of petrol for the haulage of turf up to October, 1947. In February last he notified my Department that he would not require further special allowances for the present.

When he again applied for a special allowance on the 2nd June, 1948, he was refused because at that time special allowances of petrol for the haulage of turf were being granted only to those who were constantly engaged in such transport.

It has now been possible to resume the issue of special allowances of petrol for turf haulage to all persons who apply. Accordingly, Mr. Condon's application has been granted.
