Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Land.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission has received a representative request from farmers and landless men for the division of the estate acquired by the Irish Tourist Board Hotel at Termonfeckin, County Louth, and what action is being taken by the Land Commission in the matter.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of the lands in question. Certain representations have been received and have been noted.

asked the Minister for Lands whether proceedings are being taken by the Land Commission to acquire the lands of Mr. John Latchford at Islandganniv, Killocrim, Cleevragh and Gurtnaminch, near Listowel; and, if so, whether he will indicate when they will be divided among the adjacent uneconomic holders.

The Land Commission have proceedings in hands for the acquisition of the lands at Islandganniv, Killocrim, Cleevragh and Gurtnaminch, the property of Mr. John Latchford. It is not possible at present to state whether or not the lands will become available for division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the authority which decides (a) what land is to be acquired, and (b) who is to get that land when divided.

The Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the view of the Land Commission regarding the formation of local organisations for the purpose of requesting the Land Commission to acquire and divide land amongst the members of these organisations, some of whom are landless men.

The experience of the Land Commission is that such organisations do neither good nor harm.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether he has received representations from a number of landless men in the Clonalory district regarding the division of the holding of Mrs. J.T. Ennis at Clashforde, Naul, County Dublin; and, if so, whether he will indicate what the Land Commission propose to do in the matter.

The Land Commission have no proceedings for the acquisition of the lands in question. Representations received from the Deputy have been noted for consideration.
