Vol. 113 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Pension Claims.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is yet in a position to state when proposals for legislation to permit the review of military service pension claims will be introduced.

The whole question of amending the Military Service Pensions Acts is at present being actively considered but I am not yet in a position to state when a decision is likely to be reached.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, will he state when he is going to reopen applications for military service medals?

That is the same question as the one to which I have just replied. The question of reopening these applications is getting very active consideration at the moment, but I am not yet in a position to say when the matter will be decided.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, is the Minister in a position even to estimate how soon these people can expect this legislation?

The Minister will not go in for any "estimating" on a supplementary question. Such a matter requires deeper calculation.
