Vol. 113 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the reason why the increase in wages for forestry workers, which has been under consideration for several months, has not been granted.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when he intends to give forestry workers an increase in pay.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is now prepared to increase the pay of forestry workers.

An increase of 2/- per week will be paid as soon as possible to all forestry labourers. The increase will be retrospective to 15th March, 1948.

Does the Minister recollect that early in the present year it was indicated that forestry workers might expect a somewhat larger increase than 2/- a week on the present rates? Will the Minister consider this matter so as to afford these workers a decent chance of existence which they have not got under any Government in this country?

Or not under Deputy Dunne's Coalition.

Certainly not under yours.
