Vol. 113 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for County Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that trunk and main roads are now in an almost perfect state of repair, he will consider the advisability of making ample provision in next year's Estimates for greatly increased grants for county roads in order to bring them into that high state of repair to which their users are entitled.

As stated in my concluding speech on the debate on the Department's Estimates last June, I am in entire sympathy with the view that the secondary roads of the country should be brought up to an improved standard. I hope to notify the county councils of my detailed proposals on the matter in the near future.
