Vol. 113 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Appointment and Accommodation.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is prepared to recommend that a resident house physician should be appointed at Loughlinstown hospital.

asked the Minister for Health whether he will arrange to have board of health patients in Balbriggan dispensary area treated at Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, and also to have better accommodation and facilities provided there.

I propose, with your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, to take question No. 27 and No. 28 together.

In a communication which I addressed on the 30th October to the former commissioner administering the affairs of the Balrothery Board of Assistance, I suggested that he should consider the appointment of a resident medical officer (house physician) at Loughlinstown Hospital and that also arrangements should be made to have cases from the Balbriggan District Hospital treated in Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

These proposals were discussed between a deputation from the Balrothery Board of Assistance and officer of my Department on the 12th November and the deputation undertook to consider them and to submit their views in due course. I am awaiting their proposals.
