As I stated when introducing the Estimates for my Department this year, the Government decided to discontinue the Taoiseach's motor-car allowance and to provide an official car for his use. A Humber car was purchased for this purpose.
The cost of this car, including extras and accessories was £1,644 7s. 6d. The cost of a car of the type provided for other Ministers would have been something over £800.
