asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (i) the number of supervising gangers employed in each of the following areas under the control of an assistant engineer—Killarney, Kenmare, Killorglin and Cahirciveen; (ii) the exact duties they perform; (iii) the qualifications necessary for these appointments; (iv) whether the vacancies were advertised before the present appointments were made; (v) whether candidates have been selected from an order of merit list or on the basis of their activities in a political organisation; (vi) who is the appointing authority and on whose recommendations appointees are selected, and (vii) what is the average weekly wage of such employees.
