asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of Irish nationals employed by the several companies operating air services to and from this country as at 31st December, 1947, and the corresponding date for 1948.

Aer Lingus had 1,732 Irish nationals employed on the 31st December, 1947, and 1,256 on the corresponding date in 1948. The foreign companies operating air services to and from this country are not under any obligation to forward information regarding the numbers of Irish nationals employed by them. The great majority of the employees of these companies in this country are Irish nationals.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of persons employed by Aer Lingus Teoranta as at 31st December, 1947, and the corresponding date in 1948.

The number of persons employed by Aer Lingus, Tta., as at the 31st December, 1947, and the corresponding date in 1948 was 1,846 and 1,329, respectively.
