Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Partition Problem.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state for the information of Dáil Éireann the practical steps, if any, for the early abolition of Partition that have been decided upon by the Government.

As I stated in reply to a question addressed to me by Deputy P.J. Maguire in this House on Wednesday last, the most effective action we can take is to redouble our efforts to mobilise all the moral energies of the Irish people, at home and abroad, towards bringing Partition to an end, and I do not think I can usefully add anything to that statement.

Does the Taoiseach not consider that something more than this mobilisation of opinion is necessary and that some practical steps by the Government are required to deal with this problem?

I entirely agree with the Deputy that practical steps are certainly necessary; and the practical steps are, I believe, being undertaken.
