Vol. 114 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardcost Pier.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that representations have recently been made for the construction of a pier at Ardcost, near Caherciveen, to enable local fishermen to unload their boats in safety, and that an inspection of the area has been made; and, if so, whether he will state (i) if the report of the official who carried out the inspection has yet been received in his Department, and (ii) when the pier will be eventually erected.

An investigation has been made into the proposal for the erection of a pier at Ardcost, County Kerry, and from the inspector's report I am satisfied that the cost of erecting a pier at this place would not be justified by the utility of the work. As well as that I am informed that there are other suitable landing places within a reasonable distance.
