At the end of January, 1949, the mileage of overhead network erected under the rural electrification scheme was 1,866 miles, and the number of transformers installed, approximately 1,890.
Is the Minister in a position to say when it is hoped to step up the construction of the network to the rate contemplated in the report?
I can assure the Deputy that the rate of progress is only retarded because of the difficulty of getting the necessary materials and the non-availability of all the skilled labour required.
