Vol. 114 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will now state when the proposed housing scheme at Clonbullogue, Offaly, will come into operation.

Mr. Murphy

Sites for cottages at Clonbullogue are included in a Compulsory Purchase Order which was confirmed on the 16th November, 1948. The official arbitrator has been appointed, but an appeal to the High Court by the owner of one of the sites included in the Order is pending and arbitration cannot be proceeded with until the appeal is decided.

I am not in a position, therefore, to indicate when work may commence.

The Department, however, is in communication with the local authority with a view to avoiding a hold up in the erection of cottages on sites, including those at Clonbullogue, which are not the subject of appeal.
