Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motoring Revenue.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the revenue for 1948-49 derived from mineral hydrocarbons for automotive use; (b) the revenue from motor vehicles and vehicle parts; (c) the Road Fund receipts; (d) the total of the above items; (e) the local rate contributions for road upkeep; (f) the total of (d) and (e).

Following are the figures requested by the Deputy for the year 1948-49:—

(a) Revenue from duties on mineral hydrocarbon oils

2,695,000 (approximately)

(b) Revenue from duties on motor vehicles and parts

1,040,000 ,,

(c) Road Fund Receipts

3,118,975

(d) Total of (a), (b) and (c)

6,853,975

(e) Local rate contributions for upkeep of roads

1,954,794

(f) Total of (d) and (e)

8,808,769

Of the Road Fund receipts figure of £3,118,975—item (c)—a sum of £686,000 was in respect of advances from the Exchequer to the fund under the Road Fund Advances Acts, 1926 and 1948.
