Vol. 115 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Board Hotels.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of hotels purchased or proposed to be established by the Irish Tourist Board (a) the number purchased; (b) the total purchase price paid, including cost of sites; (c) the total cost of reconstruction and redecoration work; (d) the amount paid in architects' or other consultants' fees in respect of hotels which the board had proposed to establish, and (e) the amount paid for furnishing the hotels.

The replies to the Deputy's questions are as follows:—

(a)The Irish Tourist Board established 5 hotels on properties acquired by them. They also purchased the Commodore Hotel at Cobh with a view to operating it as a hotel.

£

(b)The total purchase price paid was

89,200

(c)The total cost of reconstruction and redecoration was

88,700

(d)The amount paid in architects' and other consultants' fees was

7,731

(e)I am not in a position to give a figure for furniture as distinct from equipment but the total cost of furniture and equipment was

69,000

I have not taken the Victoria Hotel at Killarney into account because it was acquired in a derelict condition as part of property acquired there by the Tourist Board and was not intended for use as a hotel.
