Vol. 115 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Sanatorium in Switzerland.

asked the Minister for Health if he will consider the possibility of erecting a sanatorium in Switzerland for the purpose of treating Irish citizens suffering from tuberculosis in view of the fact that other countries have had sanatoria erected there.

With the implementation of the plans formulated by my Department for the treatment of tuberculosis, Irish citizens suffering from the disease will be provided with adequate treatment facilities. I consider that it is more desirable that these facilities should be provided for them in institutions in this country which are readily accessible to visits from relatives and friends of patients. The psychological effect of such visits is an important factor in the treatment of the disease.
