Vol. 115 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Clare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how far the proceedings for the acquisition of the Jackson farm at Kilfenora, County Clare, have advanced and if, in view of the need for a sufficient milk supply to the village and surrounding area, he will impress upon the Land Commission the need for special early attention to the matter.

The proceedings for the resumption of the lands in question have not yet been completed.

Can the Minister give any approximate date on which the proceedings will be completed?

As a matter of fact, an order for possession has been made. I understand that all that now remains is the fixation of price. This matter will come before the appeals tribunal, but I cannot say whether or not it is listed for the next hearing. In any case, it should be settled up in four or five weeks.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the scheme of allotment for the Sampson estate at Whitegate, County Clare, has been reviewed; and, if so, whether (i) an allottee who already owns 100 acres of land has been granted an allotment, and the area of such allotment; (ii) a portion of the estate has been given as a town park and, if so, the area involved; and (iii) a small farmer with some six acres of land and a large family who was not included as an allottee in the original scheme is now included in the scheme.

As the Land Commission have not yet completed their inquiries in this matter, I would ask the Deputy to be good enough to repeat his question in a month's time.
