Vol. 117 No. 10

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order:— Nos. 1, 7, 8 and 2. It is further proposed that the consideration of Government Business be not interrupted at the time fixed for the taking of Private Business and that the House should sit until 12 midnight. I understand, in reference to to-morrow's business, that it has been agreed that the House should sit at 10.30 a.m. and that business for this session should conclude to-morrow. I suggest for the consideration of Deputies that business to-morrow should conclude at 10.30 to-morrow night. The allocation of time for the various items of business will have to be gone through and considered between the Whips.

I understand that the Government Whips are proposing that the House should sit to-morrow from 10.30 a.m. until 10.30 p.m. without an interval for lunch.

I think it would be very desirable to adjourn the Dáil for 1½ hours for luncheon, even if it means sitting until 12 o'clock instead of 10.30.

We are not very strong on the arrangement and if Deputies prefer that we will fall in with it.

I think it would be very difficult to keep a House during the luncheon period.

That is hardly the Deputy's responsibility.

Nevertheless, we would like to keep things going on.

If Deputies prefer that arrangement, we can sit until 12 o'clock.

That is, 10.30 to 1 p.m. and 2.30 to 12 p.m.

The Taoiseach said that there would be discussions between the Whips on both sides.

We shall take the Deputy into our confidence.

I will have to be a Whip myself.

The Deputy can whip himself into a fury if he wishes.
