Vol. 118 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cahirciveen Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the delay in the carrying through of the housing scheme at Cahirciveen, and if he is now in a position to state when the relevant compulsory acquisition order will become effective.

The compulsory purchase order was confirmed by my predecessor without modification. There was no delay in dealing with that stage of the proposal. Subsequently, however, the owner of the central portion of the site appealed to the High Court. The compulsory purchase order has become operative in regard to the remainder of the site, but the local authority are not disposed to proceed with the preparation of plans or to enter on this part of the site pending the hearing of the appeal in regard to the central portion. It is expected that the appeal will be heard next month.
