Vol. 118 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repayment of Marshall Aid

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total amount in pounds sterling received by Ireland as Marshall Aid since the inception of the scheme, and the amount that will have to be repaid therefor to the United States as a result of the devaluation of sterling.

The equivalent in sterling of the total assistance received to date by this country from the U.S.A. under the European Recovery Programme is £15,411,100, approximately. At the current rate of exchange, capital repayment to the U.S. in respect of such assistance would amount, approximately, to £20,971,800.
