Vol. 118 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Coast Erosion.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that coast erosion has worsened in the Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush, Portrane and Donabate areas; and, if so, whether he will allocate a special grant to prevent further erosion.

I have nothing to add to the reply which I gave to the Deputy on the 17th February, 1949, to a similar question asked by him. I am not in a position to make a special grant available as suggested.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary or the Government not consider the position as regards coast erosion at all?

Does the Deputy remember what the last Government did about it?

You are doing nothing about it, at any rate. You were there for ten years before we came in and you are in now and, apparently, you are not going to do anything about it.

The report was signed in 1932 and you slept on it for 16 years.

1931, when you were Minister.
