asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether an excise duty is levied on motor tyres and cycle tyres manufactured in this country; and, if so, whether he will state (a) the basis on which the duty is assessed, and (b) the amount of revenue derived from this tax during each of the years 1939 to 1948, and 1949 to date.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 22 and 23 together. It will take some little time to compile the particulars asked for by the Deputy. Perhaps, in the circumstances, he would be good enough to repeat the questions in a week's time.
