Vol. 118 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Circuit Court Clerks.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state (a) the mode of appointment to clerical posts in the Dublin Circuit Court office; (b) the number of appointments made to these posts in the last two years, and (c) the names and addresses of the persons appointed.

There are three types of officers employed in the Dublin Circuit Court office, namely, established Circuit Court officers who were appointed under Section 63 of the Court Officers Act, 1926, established clerical officers of the general service grade, appointed pursuant to the provisions of the Civil Service Regulations Acts, and temporary clerical assistants appointed pursuant to a scheduling Order under Section 10 of the Civil Service Regulation Act, 1924. All of the appointments made within the last two years have been to the post of temporary clerical assistant. There have been 20 such appointments during that period all of which, with one exception, have been appointments for seasonal work in connection with the preparation of the Electoral Register and the Jurors' Lists. Owing to an increase in the volume of the ordinary work of the office, it has been found necessary within the past few weeks to take on one temporary clerical assistant to assist in this work. It is not the practice to publish the names and addresses of public servants, but I shall have no objection to supplying the Deputy personally with the information asked for on this point if he still requires it.
