Vol. 118 No. 16

Report of the Committee of Selection.

On behalf of the Chairman I wish to state that the Committee of Selection report that they have nominated Deputy Michael J. Davern to serve on the Committee of Public Accounts to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Deputy Brian Brady.

I raised a question on that matter quite a long time ago. What is the position with regard to the report of the Committee of Public Accounts which sat last year and which was appointed by the House last year? Has that committee furnished its report yet, or, if not, can we have any indication as to when the report will be made available to the House?

This is a report of the Committee of Selection.

The Committee of Public Accounts was appointed by this House last year with a duty to this House of investigating certain matters and making a report to the House. A new committee has been appointed this year and is now operating in regard to public accounts. But the report of the previous committee, as I understand it, has not yet been made available. Why has that report not been made available to this House?

The Deputy will have to take another opportunity of raising this matter because it is not relevant now. This is a report of the Committee of Selection.

I understand that the Committee of Selection has nominated another person to serve on the Committee of Public Accounts.

That does not make it relevant.

I want to know what has happened——

The Chair is ruling that it is not relevant. The Deputy will have to seek another opportunity of raising the matter.

It is not a matter for the Deputy—it is a matter for the House. If we set up a committee will that committee not report? Will that committee not do its business?

Ordered: That the Report do lie on the Table.
