Vol. 119 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killorglin-Cromane Telephone Service.

Mr. Flynn

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for providing a telephone service from Killorglin to Cromane, County Kerry, and whether he is prepared to sanction the establishment of this service at the earliest possible date.

Telephone call office facilities will be provided at Cromane as part of the scheme to provide facilities at all post offices. Work is now being resumed on this scheme, which has been in abeyance for some time past owing to pressure of more urgent work. There are over 800 post offices to be dealt with, and the order of priority must be determined mainly on engineering considerations. I regret it is not possible to say at present when a call office will be installed at Cromane.

Can the Minister say when the installation of this call office at Cromane will be sanctioned?

I cannot state definitely whether a call office will be erected in the immediate vicinity, but I do assure the Deputy that his representations will be kept in mind.
