Vol. 119 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mulcair River Drainage.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether his attention has been drawn to the anomalous position existing in connection with the drainage of the Mulcair River in that public money to the extent of £6,410 is being expended on the drainage of the Tipperary portion of the watercourse with little practical benefit to the lands drained due to the failure to remove obstacles from the river bed at Killingarriff and the weir at Barrington's bridge in the section of the river which flows through County Limerick; and, if so, whether he will take steps to have the situation rectified.

I am not aware of the position as stated by the Deputy. I am, however, making inquiries in the matter and I will inform the Deputy of the outcome.
