Vol. 119 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Officers and Housing.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether his Department have any proposals for the building of houses for Army officers who, in many cases, are undergoing serious hardships owing to lack of accommodation.

Five additional houses for married officers are at present being erected in Collins Barracks, Cork, and will be completed in October next. Proposals for the erection of additional houses for married officers in the Curragh Training Camp and Kildare Barracks are under consideration.

Is there any possibility of houses being erected in the Gormanston Camp area where the first air squadron is now permanently stationed?

I do not think so.
